Problem

Without a search tool, finding a specific post meant tedious scrolling, which contributed to bounce rates. This pain point led to frustration as users couldn't quickly find the answers they were looking for.

Solution & outcome

Rather than implementing a simple search bar, we pitched a robust, all-in-one component that featured popular resources, auto-suggestions, and both articles and videos.

Our thought process was extensive but the end goal was simple: improve user intent through UX and contain the search to a single modal, helping reduce the number of clicks and minimizing user headache.

Placement: Because the existing sub nav was already sticky and had enough room for a icon across all breakpoints, the search placement was a no-brainer. By placing the search in the sub nav users would have constant access as they scrolled and moved from page to page throughout the blog.

Considerations: When building the interface we accounted for multiple different languages, truncated vs. wrapped text, various states, a continuous load, modal height and width responsiveness, and accessibility.

Results: While it's too early to measure results, the search was integrated seamlessly into the blog and achieves the goal of improved user intent.
